Thomas Brian Narbett passed away peacefully on Tuesday 12th February 2008 at 2.30pm. He was a very young 73 years of age. He was retired but lived for his footie and rugby and anything sports related and his carboots/markets. He will be deeply missed by all his family and all of his 6 grandchildren. He was affectionately known locally as the 'Gaffa' as he was the publican and landlord of the Stone Cross Pub in West Bromwich for over 17 years, and was often found in there when he retired having a pint on big sporting occassions. He was only recently diagnosed so it was very quick and very sad and we are all still left reeling from the shock of it.
I know you are in Heaven Dad, with your Brothers John and Peter having the biggest party as you are all reunited. I hope you find Otto and Caesar, I'm sure they'll find you if you don't, I can hear you now saying 'Who let those bloody mutts in here..?'
I love you more than I ever told you and I miss every minute. I miss you so much I can't breathe. I can still hear you telling me to 'stop bitings your nails!'.
I love you Dad and I will forever miss you until we meet again xx
The First Christmas without you...
The Season is fast upon us Dad. And everywhere I look there are Christmas trees, fairy lights and tinsel, and I can't bear it. I just can't stop the tears today Dad, I can't get used to the fact that we're not going to see you this year. I keep seeing boxes of bloody Black Magic when I go shopping and all I want to do is buy them all for you. The little reminders hurt like hell. Then selfishly I keep thinking who's going to buy me my Chocolate Orange this year and that hurts even more, cus I'll never have another one from you...It's all about the little things and it's the little things I miss. I'm hurting today Dad and I can't bear the thought of not seeing you at Christmas...
So sad
Knew Brian from his Coach and Horses days @ Hateley Heath back in the seventies, (I worked with Benson the DJ at the Coach ) and then when he had the Stone Cross on the Cross.
Hadn`t seen Brian for years and he turned up last summer at my business A.S. Mondeos of Wednesbury to buy a bumper for his Mondeo estate,we must have passed an hour and a half away talking about the old days before he left me.
It was a shock to find out he had passed on via this site.
Brian was one of the old school publicans and good at his job and will be missed by many.
R.I.P. Brian.
We would just like to say that our hearts go out to you all during this difficult time. Brian was a wonderful man and he will be missed by many. We have many a fond memory of him when he was the 'gaffa' at the pub and wish we could have those days back again. They were the best !!!!! And if he is up there in charge of a bar lets hope his jukebox is more up to date than the one in the 'Cross' !!!!!!
find comfort in each other, stay strong. God bless. xxxxx.
